1960	Science Council of Japan decides to send an observation team to Lae, New Guinea.
6/1961	Aio Kato conducted field research. Obtained permission from the Australian government. Observation site determined.
9/1961	Members of the observation team have been selected.
12/17/1961	Kagoshima University training ship “Kagoshima Maru” (1036 tons), loaded with personnel and equipment, leaves the Port of Tokyo.
12/28/1961	Arrival in Lae. Quarantine, customs clearance and unloading.
12/29/1961	Transporting equipment to the observation site
2/1/1962	Comprehensive rehearsal (clear skies)
2/4/1962	Final test (cloudy, raining at night)

2/25/1962	The Kagoshima Maru returns to the Port of Tokyo.
