GUAS Asian Solar Physics Winter School

24-26 Jan. 2012,

at National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ), Mitaka Campus,

Mitaka, Tokyo, 181-8588, Japan.

Since 2004 the Graduate University for Advanced Studies (GUAS, or Sokendai) has been sponsoring Asian Winter Schools for various branches of science. This year, following the successful March-2008 event and once again under their sponsoring, National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ) is organizing a winter school for solar physics. The winter school offers lectures and hand-on experience with Hinode data (with some instruction sessions). As the name suggests, the supposed participants are mainly from Asian countries but we hope not to discourage students and young post-docs from other areas to participate as well. Limited travel fund will be available. The list of lecturers includes: Yoshianori Suematsu (Introductory Solar Physics), Kiyoto Shibasaki (Solar Physics with Radio Observations), and Takashi Sekii (Solar Interior, Dynamo, and Helioseismology).

Information Board” will provide more details.
